The city of Lagos is set for another gospel music extravaganza as the much-anticipated Unusual Praise 2017 takes place today at Atrium Events Centre (next to Catholic Church of Divine Mercy, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. The event, organised by the Catholic Church of Divine Mercy (CCDM), Lekki 1 is reputed to be the biggest of its kind within the Roman Catholic community in Africa. 

 

Nicole Mullen, Samsong, Steve Crwon, Olumide, Frank Edwards, Sammie Okposo Headline Unusual Praise 2017

According to the organisers, Unusual Praise 2017 will be headlined by renowned American gospel singer, Nicole Mullen, Sammie Okposo, Nathaniel Bassey, Steve Crown. Other major artistes expected to perform at the event include Frank Edwards, Samsong, Chioma Jesus, Chinyere Udoma, JoePraize, Obiwon, among others.

 

Commenting on the programme, the Parish Priest of Catholic Church of Divine Mercy, Lekki 1, Reverend Monsignor Paschal Nwaezeapu described Unusal Praise inspired by the need to continuously lead the entire people of God in elevated praise, worship and prayer. 

 

According to Reverend Monsignor Nwaezeapu ‘Unusual Praise arose from the desire to lead the people of God to an Unusual Praise through praise, worship and prayer. We believe that through this, we can lead one united family of God closer to Him. We encourage everybody to join us this evening’.

 

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chimeze Emewulu said Unusual Praise has grown tremendously since inception. ‘Over the years, Unusual Praise has recorded tremendous progress and growth in geometric proportions. An event that originated from a unit of one society in the Catholic Church of the Divine Mercy has expanded from participation by members of the CCDM parish and has now spread across the entire Archdiocese of Lagos. 

 

Emewulu said that as part of the strategy to /deepen reach of the event, Unusual Praise 2017 will be telecast live from 5pm till dawn on DSTV Channel 198. The programme will also be streamed live.

 

It will be recalled that Unusual Praise commenced in 2011. This is will be the seventh edition of the annual gospel music fiesta.
